X08

My rating for today: EPIC.

A day out, and well spent. Faithfully, I went to the X08 event at Marina Square like the gaming nerd I am, together with Gnui and was going to meet up with Ashpenn as well, but he was being lazy again. (stop sleeping, damn you!) First and foremost, lunch at Carl's Jr. Epic lunch. Filled me till night time(literally) then on to the games! Force Unleashed, Fracture, Gears of War 2, Rock band 2. You name it, they got it. Even the unreleased ones. Mirror's Edge, Far Cry2, TOMB RAIDER UNDERWORLD (woo), Left4dead. What a list. Tried them all. But the highlight was official Tomb Raider model, Allison Carrol coming on stage. That was awesome. All the right moves, not to mention the perfect figure :P copped 3 free posters as well. All in all, a day well spent with my best mates. Everyday should be a day like this.

sick like a dog

I am still sick. I'm tired of this shit. Everyday its the same thing. 3 in the morning, i wake up to find myself shivering and freezing, then mum comes in to give me my medicine or i go get it myself. At 6, I drag myself out of bed and go to school. I avoid all the airconditioned areas, cause those give me the really big chills. Absolutely not nice at all. I've been skipping lots of school lately though. A lot of the time in the classrooms is spent on trying to control my shivering, so what's the point? The meds are strong stuff. They make me feel normal for a while at least, but its just a short-term thing. Afew hours later, its hell again.

I really hope this sickness is nothing too serious.

We Are All Made of Stars

I love Moby. His music is so... familiar and awesome. That really catchy tune you heard in that movie? By Moby. The one you heard in the commercial? Composed by Moby. Just love his style.

Porcelain
Moby
In my dreams I'm dying all the time
As I wake its kaleidoscopic mind
I never meant to hurt you
I never meant to lie
So this is goodbye
This is goodbye

Tell the truth you never wanted me
Tell me

In my dreams I'm jealous all the time
As I wake I'm going out of my mind
Going out of my mind

-
Also, watched a 1995 movie called "12 Monkeys" Very good stuff. It addresses a lot of philosophical themes and others like madness, time paradoxes and stuff, it stars Bruce Willis, Madeleine Stowe and Brad Pitt. I felt really depressed after watching it though. Not because the ending sucked but because it was so friggen sad, gave me a "what the fuck, man..." moment, excuse the language. Definitely a movie worth watching, highly recommended by me(if that means anything at all :D)

Friends=fun

Enjoyed myself tremendously yesterday and today. Yesterday, Hong Aik came over and we went cycling, all the way to Changi Airport and back, it was EXHAUSTING. He slept over, and I kinda taught him how to play the guitar(a little). I'm a good teacher right???
To quote Hong aik, this is his version of what happened:"After dinner, we embarked on a journey to the East. I wanted to know-oh-oh-oh-oh, if it's possible to get to the Airport Terminals on bike. We cycled at a fairly fast speed, stopping only once at East Coast Seafood Centre for a drink. I met a few familiar faces as well. I had a great time, chatting and enjoying the breeze slapping my face constantly. Remember? Air resistance=k X velocity^2. Haha. He told me about how scouts once trekked all the way to airport. I can't decide to stand on the supporting or disapproving side of such things, but all I know is I sympathise with them. The sun was setting and it was getting darker by the minute. Finally, we came to a fork in the road and there was a cyclist also there. Politely, I asked if it was possible to cycle to the airport terminals, and I must admit I was disappointed when he told me that the terminals and the path we were on are separated by the airplane runway. In other words, it's impossible. My heart sank as I always believed it was possible. Nevertheless, I decided to turn back and head home, as it was already quite dark."

My laziness=ftw

And then Ashpenn came over today as well, and we had a blast reliving the good old days of co-op alien blasting, trash talking and generally exhibiting childish behaviour. Fun! Then we went to play pool.

ouch, my foot hurts.

I think I just got

PROMOTED! YAY! Bio B, Chem C/D, Chinese B/C and GP possibly E. As for Econs and Maths. Huh. Just failed maths (44/100) and econs? 34+- methinks. Econs is like Greek to me. Okay, maybe not so bad but...I just can't remember all that shit they make us remember. But getting promoted is the most important. Damn the MOE and their meritocratic bullshit.
-
My parents are out this week, so i'm home alone for an entire week. Hooray!
-
I saw a flame,
Warm and inviting.
It was easy to tame,
Darkness fled from its lighting.
The wind came
Gone was the flame,
Embers were left,
it smoked,
dying.
-
I think I am too simple-minded a person. All I can currently think of is about mugging, achieving trying to get good results, but for what? There must be something more to life.

yay

The promos are finally over. Despite doing so badly, its still worth celebrating LOL. So i've been playing quite a bit here and a bit there of my old games and got a new one. FPS/RPG hybrids are the best.
 Random F1 picture
But still, i feel a sense of emptiness. After studying so hard for the last few weeks, I finally get to take a rest but there's friggen nothing to do! So many good games/books but so little cash. Thought of getting WoW but mum got suspicious:/ Ah well. I'll be going back to "A Short History of Nearly Everything"
I wonder how much Guitar Hero costs...

Gaming

Well. Now that the promos are almost over, its time to enjoy myself a little bit. Don't bother asking me about them though, you'll just get me really pissed. Maths today was epic fail.

So. I was playing a few games again, that i haven't touched for quite some time. It's so nice to have that adrenaline rush again, to feel and hear my heart pounding after killing that asshole who taunted at my corpse the previous round. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Gaming is such a stress reliever, its like an escape route along the linear, dull path of life. Lemme draw up a picture.

Yeah. So next monday's my last paper, i've got 3 days to study for it, im planning to use at least two. I do hope to get promoted :/

Old times' sake

Well, Friday was Teachers' Day, it was a pretty enjoyable day for me. after an entertaining(sortof) celebration, I rushed to Victoria School ASAP to meet up with the 4E guys. So good to see all the familliar faces again.
Class 4E & me
Then we went to play pool :D

Day 2: Went for hightea with my Guitar Ensem instructor and some other people from other schools. The food was okay. They had chawanmushi though, so i'm not complaining. We went to Equinox, some restaraunt on the top level of Raffles hotel, probably has a really high price as well. I took a few photos:
All landscape photos taken with my cameraphone

Except this one of course

And then back to VS for the Scouts' campfire. Nothing much to say about this one, we were playing handphone games at the back.

Also, I learnt how to play Unintened by Muse!
But one of my favourite songs is "Feeling Good":

Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Reeds driftin' on by
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Fish in the sea
You know how I feel
River running free
You know how I feel
Blossom in the trees
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
And I'm feeling good

Dragonflies all out in the sun
You know what I mean, don't you know
Butterflies are all havin' fun
You know what I mean
Sleep in peace when the day is done
And this old world is a new world
And a bold world
For me

Stars when you shine
You know how I feel
Scent of the pine
You know how I feel
Yeah freedom is mine
And You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me
For me...

And I'm feeling good

laptop fixed!

Long hiatus on my blog, because someone dropped my bag with my laptop in it. BUT FEAR NO MORE, FOR THE SCREEN HAS BEEN FORGED ANEW. cough. So, another Olympics has come and gone. This one being the most epic of all. epic stadium, epic athletes, epic country, epic opening ceremony, epic medals, epic records. Here's a site with some really really epic photos of the opening ceremony. EPIC LINK
Here's my favourite:

So i removed my braces, and enjoyed freedom for a week. Today, i got my retainers. these things are restraining as hell. I guess you guys will be laughing at my inability to speak coherently for the next few days...ah well.
E-learning sucks shit btw.

Olympics are epic.

So. I watched the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics and boy, was it awesome. I expected something of the sort from China and they exceeded my expectations. The synchronisation of dancers/people is amazing. Seriously, it's not humanly possible. Only the Chinese are capable of such discipline and sheer epicness.

Michael Phelps. The main event of the Olympics, is made of pure awesome. Watch how he swims and find out for yourself. Gymnastics, diving, weightlifting and swimming are my fave events. Looking forward to the marathons and sprinting too.

Off-topic, my laptop's been sent for repair. Some idiot in my class dropped my bag with my lappy inside it. Now the screen flickers a little then turns black. Feel like punching the bastard. Pity he's the class monitor. So, I MAY be online in messenger, but it might not be me who's there. Watch out, malicious-people-out-there! *cough* Nigel, you sicko. *cough*

Also, http://www.cracked.com/blog/2008/08/12/what-the-olympics-really-mean-to-china/
^^^ is funny stuff, but to be taken with a grain of salt. American humour is unpredictable and full of shit.

BAZAAR RAWR

Right after school today, Nigel, Tedric and I went to Tampines mall to buy ice cream, soft drinks and clean and clear moisturiser/whitening solution/whatever. All that was for tomorrow's National Day bazaar at TPJC. Except for the clean and clear shit. That was Nigel's vanity kit. We're gonna be making floats! Though i really doubt that it will be a success. Seriously, who would want to buy floats? I think it's gonna be epic fail. Too bad we don't have nachos. Those are made of concentrated fail.

We went to Phin's for dinner. Some never-heard-of-before posh restaraunt thingie. Set meal cost 20++ incl GST. Oh the horror.

Speech Day

Right after maths tuition today, I immediately sped to Victoria School, my alma mater just in time to catch the finale. It was Mr Wong Liang Seng, our infamous opera-singing Chemistry teacher. Then the band came in and played the Victoria Anthem (School Song). That was when I realised how attached how attached I was to the school. I cried and let the tears flow freely. After the Victorian Anthem.

The most interesting part came right after the Anthem. It was the cheering competition, to see who could cheer louder, the seniors(us) or the current batch. I'm proud to say that it was a tie.
Here's a video:

I saw so many familliar faces, though some of them no longer had names attached to them. A pity.
I congratulated one of my best friends, Hong Aik.
Holy shit my gums look horrible. This is one fugly picture. Pity its the only one I got.

Then I went with a few mates (Octave Ah Pui and Kevin Lameass) to Parkway Macs for dinner. Followed by pool with Ben and one of my bestest friends, Ashpenn. I had a freakin' awesome time with all my old mates and i'm hyped for next weeks gathering.

It's sad how we don't really appreciate what we have until we lose them.

HOMEWORK

EEARRGH Next week=fac test. Bio+Chinese+Maths=Epic Fail. PW=epic lulz
EoM=change article, redo! School=suck

So, today was a pretty glum day for me, most of it was spent brooding over the amount of stuff i'm gonna have to do/study. The only thing that cheered me up was the ramblings of the guy sitting next to me in chinese class. I hate to say this, but the things that he says are sometimes downright...stupid. Today, he wondered aloud, "Actually hor, do we need our brains to think or do we think without them?" And yes, he was being serious.

At the end of the day, we had PE, NAPFA 5 stations. Flunked Pullups(0), but got A for sit n reach(49cm) and Situps(44). I did decently for shuttlerun and standing broad jump will be done next week. Can't wait for the jump!

Also, I gotta skip a few hours of school on 22 Aug to go for some interview for the A star attachment programme thingie. I hope i get in yet i don't. There's so much guitar stuff going on during the hols and i don't want to miss any of it!

So anyway, here's a shoop-de-whoop nigel style for you. A lil' low-quality though. I just got my hands on a higher-resolution stock image, I'll make another later. :D

Music

Yea so, recently(and not so recently as well) i've been checking out different bands, a change from listening to soundtracks all the time and see f i can get myself interested in some other genres. So far, alternative rock seems okay. A little classical as well

Coldplay was okay, but got dull after a while. They make me want to sleep. Then I checked out a band called Aberdeen City. They're not bad, but their songs are a little unorthodox and weird. Then Muse. Muse is THE SHIT and i mean that in a good way. So far, there is not a song by them that I don't like. They're awesome. Check out Knights of Cydonia and Hysteria. Bought their live album HAARP and it didn't disappoint. Foo Fighters were okay as well, I like The Pretender and their acoustic tracks. Right now i'm checking out Nine Inch Nails, Their(his?) instrumental tracks are EPIC, especially "Just Like You Imagined".

Biology is a killer subject. Or maybe it's DNA and Genomics that makes it so difficult now. Seriously, the sense strand is not the anti-sense strand and the anti-sense strand is the sense strand? utter nonsense(pun intended, I think.)

The long, dark Night

I watched Batman, The Dark Night today. Overall, i guess it was a good movie, definately better than a lot of movies out there.

I must agree that the late Heath Ledger's acting as the Joker was really phenomenal. I love the well-developed story and the interesting psychological experments by the Joker. My only qualm about this movie is that ITS SO DAMN LONG. Yes, i'm complaining about a good movie being too long. After a while, I just kinda lost focus and couldn't fully appreciate the chain of events occuring in the film. But that's about it. I have no other complaints to make. I give it 8.5/10. He better get another tumbler/batmobile thang or i'll boycott the next movie.

UNSW ftw?

I attended some talk today about entering US, UK and Aussie Universities after graduation and friggen stupid NS. (speaking of NS, i just got my registration letter today. I feel like burning their building down.) It was quite interesting, learned a bit about how to apply and which unis specialise in which course. I'm thinking of trying medicine although chances are slim. They say that it's not that much on results and more of the passion though. I want to help people, and I like Biology. So.

I'm thinking of entering UNSW. My parents already had it all planned out for me, making me an aussie citizen and all, I hope I don't screw it up.

A friend introed to me a song a few days ago, it's caled "Do Ya" by Mcfly. Catchy tune.

Also, just got back from dinner at Cafe Cartel. St. Louis BBQ ribs ftw!

p.s. MAH LAZORZ ARE TEH CHARGED

GUITAR!

My new CCA is fun. FInally, one that I actually really enjoy. That's the Guitar Ensemble. I love how a simple piece of wood with strings is able to play all kinds of music, using countless different unique styles.(try using your piano as a percussion instrument). Also, it's so damn easy to pick up. It was especially easy for me probably because I had a musical background in playing the piano. I pity those poor souls who used to read tabs only.

Also, it's full of cool and nice people (though the aforementioned touchy-feely weird guy from my class is in it as well.)I'm already friends with most of them, they're a blast to hang around with. Nowadays the only days I look forward to are Wednesdays, fridays and weekends.

Also, I can now play the intro and RHS portions of Flight of the bumblebee on piano :D

Hello

alright, i've decided that after a 3/4 month hiatus, perhaps I should post something again. YAY!

So, Tampines JC isn't THAT bad after all, i've made some really good friends there. But seriously, TPJC is full the weirdest dudes and gals you'll ever meet. It doesnt't get any weirder than that.
One guy has a fascination with touching other guys.
One guy has a fascination with oldie music and musicals and thinks that Aston's sucks. I think he's pure evil.
2 guys are from indonesia. These guys are pretty normal, just a little annoying sometimes.
And this indian dude. He's sick in the mind, i tell you. sick in the freaking mind. And hairy.
Girls are mostly okay, with the occasional boy-love-anime-loving metalhead.

My results sucked: 1U, 2Ses,1 E, 1 D and 1 B. You'll have a hard time guessing which subject I got a B for. Now, to chinese homework.

pooi

I don't feel like blogging for the while, I've been very very busy. To summarise everything, Guitar is fun, maths is not. Got a new phone, and its kinda bling-bling-ish. kinda. And i'm doing Journeys for PW.
